How We Work

A Clear Path Through Uncertain Territory

Every engagement begins with a conversation and ends with your family in a more stable place. Here is what that journey looks like.

01

The First Call

A Confidential Conversation, No Obligation

The first call is not a sales call. It is a conversation — an opportunity for you to describe what is happening and for us to understand whether and how we can help. We ask questions. We listen carefully. We tell you honestly what we think.

Many families come to us having already spoken to therapists, interventionists, or treatment programs. Some come to us before they have spoken to anyone. Either way, the first call is the same: private, unhurried, and focused entirely on your situation.

Most first calls last 45 to 60 minutes.

02

Assessment & Strategy

Understanding the Full Picture

Before we recommend anything, we need to understand everything. We conduct a thorough assessment of your loved one's situation — the clinical picture, the history, the family dynamics, the practical constraints — and we develop a clear strategic framework for how to proceed.

This is not a checklist. It is a genuine effort to understand your family's specific situation in depth, so that every recommendation we make is grounded in reality rather than a generic protocol.

Assessment typically takes place over one to two sessions.

03

Active Guidance

Moving From Strategy to Action

Once we have a clear picture and a strategic direction, we move into active guidance. This is where the work happens: identifying the right treatment options, preparing your family for difficult conversations, navigating the admissions process, and managing the inevitable complications that arise.

We are available throughout this phase — not just for scheduled check-ins, but when things change, when decisions need to be made quickly, and when you need someone who has been through this before.

The active guidance phase varies in length depending on the situation.

04

Transition & Placement

Getting Your Loved One Into the Right Care

When the time comes to move your loved one into treatment, we manage the transition. We have relationships with the country's leading programs and we know how to navigate the admissions process — including the moments when things do not go as planned.

We do not hand you a list of programs and wish you well. We stay involved through the placement, through the first days of treatment, and through the transition back to whatever comes next.

We remain available throughout the treatment period.

05

Ongoing Support

The Work Continues After Placement

Getting a loved one into treatment is not the end of the journey — it is the beginning of a new and often equally challenging phase. Families need support as they navigate the treatment period, plan for discharge, and manage the long road of recovery.

We remain available to the families we work with for as long as they need us. The nature of that support changes over time, but the relationship does not end when your loved one enters a program.

Ongoing support is available on a retained or as-needed basis.

Our Commitments

What You Can Expect From Us

Complete Discretion

Everything we discuss is held in strict confidence. We understand that many of the families we work with have professional or public profiles that make privacy essential, not optional.

Honest Counsel

We tell you the truth, even when it is difficult. We do not offer false reassurance or tell you what you want to hear. You deserve accurate information and a clear-eyed assessment of your options.

No Conflicts of Interest

We do not receive referral fees or commissions from treatment programs. Our only financial relationship is with you, which means our only obligation is to you.

The First Step Is a Conversation

You do not need to have everything figured out before you call. Most families come to us in the middle of a crisis, without a clear sense of what they need. That is exactly what the first call is for.
